A DAY after meeting police officials of Cebu City to address the peace and order situation of the city, incoming mayor Tom Osmena announced the arrest and the death of two drug personalities in his Facebook page.
Osmena, who defeated Mike Rama in the May 9 polls, said police conducted two buy-bust operations last May 18 and recovered P1.2 million worth of shabu.
He posted: “At 9:30PM last night, CAIDSOTG-CCPO led by PSI Eunil Avergonzado conducted a buy-bust operation on V. Rama St., Brgy. Calamba which resulted in the arrest of one Jerry John Rosales. Evidence recovered: 46 small packs of shabu totalling 2.1 grams with an estimated street value of 25,000.00 pesos.
At 2:15 AM this morning, PSI Avergonzado led the same unit in a second buy-bust operation in Brgy. Sudlon II, which resulted in a shootout with one Teodoro “Doroy” Cabriana. Evidence recovered: 1 .45 cal. handgun with 4 live rounds remaining; 1 large, 1 medium, and 30 small packs of shabu totaling 106.02 grams with an estimated street value of 1,253,160.00 pesos.
Second suspect declared dead on arrival.”
Osmena, who vowed to be tough on criminals and promised to give P50,000 to policemen for every robber and drug lord killed in the line of duty, ended his post with:
“I do not make empty promises.”
