Smart 5G now available to Smart Prepaid subs

PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is rolling out its commercial 5G service to key cities in Visayas and Mindanao, becoming the first Philippine telco to launch 5G services nationwide.

Smart, which launched its 5G service commercially in July, is rolling out Smart 5G in key areas in Boracay, Cebu, Iloilo and Davao.

5G brings super-fast internet and new digital services

The commercial launch of 5G in the Philippines will bring not only super-fast internet for mobile phone users but will also introduce a new generation of digital services for both individual consumers and enterprise customers, according to officials of PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications.

“5G is a major milestone in the development of mobile phone services and digital technologies. It is a platform that enables new technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, cloud computing and other digital services, that when combined, will not only enhance existing services, but also make possible a new generation of wireless services,” said Ramon R. Isberto, PLDT-Smart Public Affairs Head and First Vice President, in an interview with Cito Beltran’s Agenda on One News.

Smart fires up first ‘5G Media City’

PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have taken a step closer to that goal by recently firing up Smart 5G at the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong City.

The Smart 5G facilities were launched in time for PLDT Enterprise’s “Keep Moving Forward” event on Aug. 4, where they unveiled their expanded roster of wireless services and solutions for Enterprise customers, including the first commercial mobile enterprise 5G plans in the country.
