Around this time of the year, Shangri-La Group’s hotels in the Philippines would normally have gathered to light up their Christmas trees set amidst festive decorations to welcome the yuletide season.

Tradition takes a different turn in 2020 as Edsa Shangri-La, Makati Shangri-La, Shangri-La at the Fort, JEN Manila by Shangri-La, Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa and Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu choose to celebrate the season by reaching out to local communities and honoring our frontliners – the enduring heroes of this generation.

Shangri-La hotels in Makati, the Fort, Edsa and JEN Manila by Shangri-La have partnered with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) for their KAAGAPAY Protect Our Healthcare Heroes Project. The KAAGAPAY Project was launched by the PDRF in April 2020 to help bring immediate aid to medical professionals and hospital workers who continue their relentless fight against the spread of COVID-19.

A fundraising initiative committed towards supporting the healthcare sector, KAAGAPAY provides much-needed medical supplies such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators for hospitals across Metro Manila.

Shangri-La Group Christmas

From November 22 to December 28, 2020, Shangri-La Group’s city hotels in the Philippines will hold the Star Cookie fundraising program. Guests can make their meaningful Christmas contribution by purchasing a Shangri-La Star Cookie available at P250. Each cookie will include a special Christmas card ornament where guests can write a thoughtful festive message and hang them in the hotels’ Tree of Hope. All proceeds from the Star Cookie Program and the written holiday greetings will be distributed to frontline communities through KAAGAPAY.

Off to the coast to the picturesque island resorts of Boracay and Cebu, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts supports local communities and bring warmth to the season by supporting the Children’s Haven Orphanage in Mactan, Cebu and Barangay Yapak in Boracay, Aklan.
