The very first Netflix fan event of its kind celebrates Pride Month in the Philippines with a spectacular recreation of the hit series Pose at La Vie in the Sky every Friday of June.
Based on the award-winning series created by Ryan Murphy (Glee, Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story, and the movie Eat, Pray, Love), Pose enters the underground world of the 1980s Ballroom Scene where displaced gay men and women bonded together over fashion, walking the catwalk in a nightly themed extravaganza, and eventually found family. This scene gave birth to Madonna’s Vogue and Ru Paul’s now famous “the category is” line.
POSExLAVIE kicks off with Moulin Rouge Realness night! La Vie in the Sky CEO Louis Thevenin (fourth from left) is flanked by House of Ikils (Irvina, Ashley and Valeria), House of Femininity (Maki, Bee, and Khylie) and House of Masculinity (Fish, Choi and Chase, members of the first transman association in the Visayas and Mindanao, TEAM (Transman Equality and Awareness Movement). See you this Friday for another installment!
In Cebu, La Vie in the Sky brings the glamorous and colorful nightly party of Pose to life every 8 pm on Fridays. At least three Houses are asked to compete against each other to a pre-identified theme (for the first week, it was Moulin Rouge Realness).
A trio of celebrity judges raise their scores for three sub-categories (Face, Body and Walk), and an overall winning House is declared at the end of the evening to win a nightly prize of P10,000 in cash and gift cheques. Each weekly winner will advance to a Grand Pose-Off on June 28, 2019 for an ever bigger cash prize and gift cheques.
SPECIAL MENU. A special X-Pose menu is also available only on POSExLAVIE nights. One bottle of Prosecco, assorted terrines, mini caneles and pizza slices are served as a premium platter for only P490.
Interested participants (open to everyone of every persuasion, as long as you are a House of 3) may pre-register at the La Vie in the Sky Facebook account to avail yourself of free transportation to the venue. But on-site registration is welcome, should guests wish to experience the Ballroom Scene for themselves. In fact, New Light Photo has set up a mini-studio with accessories and costumes for a professional photoshoot on site for everyone to try out.
MAKI of House of Femininity walks for the sub category Walk, where the individual is judged on their strut on the catwalk.
