Provincial Board members miss session

While they’re off meeting voters, some members of the Provincial Board missed out on what they are promising voters to do–work for them. Only five of the 14-member PB showed up in the session yesterday, forcing the acting presiding officer to adjourn the session for lack of qourom. Those who showed up were Miguel Antonio Magpale, the acting presiding officer, Jude Thaddeus Sybico, Raul Alcoseba, Ivy Durano-Meca and Celestino Martinez III.

The body was supposed to act on the proposed ordingance on organic agriculture program…..downloading of the P6.9 million to Santander for a farm to market road and appropriating financial assistance to different barangays
amounting to over P124,000. The Freeman on the lack of qourum at the PB.

Binay picks up pieces of Cebu base

AFTER losing the support of One Cebu, UNA presidential bet Jejomar Binay will join a rally in Toledo City, hoping to consolidate some of his remaining support base.  Toledo City mayor Sonny Osmena said Binay will join their rally at noon today, but even UNA regional coordinator Mayor Mike Rama of Cebu City is not sure if Osmena, who is running as an independent candidate, will endorse the vice president.

I admire Mayor Sonny because he has been with UNA and he did not change his heart. Mayor Mike Rama.

Election ban covers cash aid to seniors?

Senior citizens and PWDs expecting the next cash aid from Cebu City Hall next month may have to wait as Treasurer Diwa Cuevas is still asking the Comelec whether the P2,000 cash doleout will be covered by the election ban. Marchel Sarno, the election officer for the north district, said he will refer the matter to their head office, which will decide if the election ban covers financial assistance regularly given to senior citizens and PWDs.

Both BOPK and Team Rama started their campaign sorties yesterday, with the former city mayor promising to increase the financial assistance to the scholars from P10,000 to P50,000.

I don’t want our youth to stay poor. I have so many plans, but please let’s consider the future of your families. Former Cebu City Mayor Tom Osmena.
