The International Eucharistic Congress 2016 is a huge gathering that will impact the daily lives of residents throughout the congress. The already bad Cebu traffic is expected to worsen as roads will be closed to make way for IEC 2016 activities and delegates. Because of the disruption, schools near where IEC events are scheduled have decided not to hold classes. These schools are:

Cebu City

January 25 to 30

  • Mabolo Elementary School
  • Mabolo National High School (day and night classes)
  • Bagong Lipunan Elementary School,
  • Barrio Luz Elementary School
  • Barrio Luz National High School (day and classes)

January 28 to 30

  • Abellana National School night classes
  • Cebu City Central School night classes

January 29 and 30

  • Abellana National School day classes
  • Cebu City Central School elementary and day classes

January 29

  • Guadalupe Elementary School
  • Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School (day and night classes)
  • Tejero Night High School
  • Lahug Night High School
  • Lahug Elementary School ( no classes in the afternoon)

Mandaue City

January 25 to 29

  • All elementary and secondary schools both public and private

Lapu-Lapu City

January 27 to 29

  • All public schools in mainland Lapu-Lapu City

Tertiary Schools

January 25 to 29

  • University of San Carlos
  • University of San Jose–Recoletos
  • St. Theresa’s College
  • Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion
  • Don Bosco Technology Center – Cebu
  • University of the Philippines Cebu

Cebu Institute of Technology: Jan. 27 (suspended starting 12:30 all levels); Jan. 28 (suspended starting at 12 noon, all levels); Jan. 29 (whole day suspended, all levels.
