The Department of Education (DepEd) recently recognized mobile leader Smart Communications for its efforts to help improve education in the country. Smart is one of DepEd’s corporate partners under the Adopt-a-School program, whose goal is to enhance the quality of public education through technology support and training, among others.

Smart’s various education initiatives include the rollout of the Smart Technocart, a mobile digital laboratory donated to public schools to provide teachers and kindergartners with modern learning tools.

Each Smart TechnoCart contains 20 tablets that come preloaded with Batibot, an Android application designed to help children develop essential thinking skills through fun-filled games. The facility also features a laptop and projector for the use of the teacher; a Smart Bro pocket WiFi with prepaid load for connectivity; and the Smart One Campus, a learning management system that helps administrators and teachers track and measure their students’ academic performance.

Smart has so far donated 15 Smart Technocarts, but interested individuals and institutions may still give donations. For more information, please visit www.smart.com.ph/learnsmart. (Press Release)
