The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) has announced in its latest project update that it will open this month. CCLEX is the first toll expressway in this part of the country and comes with a massive investment of at least P30 billion pesos.

CCLEX will be the third connection between Mactan Island and mainland Cebu. The 8.9-kilometer toll expressway connects the South Road Properties with Cordova town. It is longer than it should have been because the builders had to change the alignment to consider the environment and protect the mangroves of Cordova.

CCLEX is a toll expressway that will use an electronic collection system. It has started installing the RFID stickers that will be needed to pass the expressway. Motorists can sign up to have their RFID stickers installed on this site: https://mptc.outsystemsenterprise.com/ORRAS/

“We are happy to bring to Cebuanos this contactless and cashless payment through RFID when using our expressway as part of our vision to modernize the country’s transport sector and as part of our commitment to nation-building,” Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said during the main bridge deck connection ceremony on October 29, 2021.

The CCLEX is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the country and is seen to spur economic growth in the region. It is undertaken by the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MPTC, in partnership with the City of Cebu and Municipality of Cordova.
