InnoPub Media, the Cebu City-based new media startup that runs this website, released today the MyCebu.ph app on the Google Play Store for free download to Android devices. The startup is still working on the iOS version for iPhones and iPads.

The MyCebu.ph app includes breaking news alert notifications. With the feature, those who installed the app will get immediately notified whenever MyCebu.ph posts breaking news alerts or updates like the daily Cebu News Digest.

BREAKING NEWS. Get alerted when news breaks in Cebu by installing the MyCebu.ph app.

The app allows users to read the latest MyCebu.ph stories even after going offline after an initial connection to download content.

“News is better on mobile. We think that the breaking news notification feature, which isn’t offered by any of the apps of Cebu news organizations, is very useful to readers. In building MyCebu.ph, we have discovered that there is a hunger for Cebu news and content and we hope that our recently-released app will help those who live in Cebu or those who have an interest in Cebu keep up with the latest news and updates,” said Marlen del Mar-Limpag, MyCebu.ph editor.

MyCebu.ph is the fastest growing website on Cebu. It publishes news stories and feature articles on Cebu: from places to visit, food to try, and things to do. It also contains business news articles as well as feature stories on interesting Cebuanos. The site publishes a historical article every Thursday as part of its #TBT feature. Every Friday, it features the works of Cebuano writers. Its current series covers Bisaya poetry.

The MyCebu.ph website is already mobile-responsive and works well on the device but the breaking news notifications provide users an important reason to install the app.

The app can be downloaded for free to Android devices from its Google Play Store listing here.
