The 50-hectare masterplanned community City di Mare is now connected with the rest of the city via the premium bus service offered by MyBus.

Officials of Filinvest, the company behind the development at the South Road Properties, held a preview of the bus routes and stops for journalists and bloggers last week.

“The premium point-to-point bus service makes its air-conditioned, PWD-friendly, CCTV-enabled buses available to the residents and locators of Sanremo Oasis, Amalfi, the UP Professional Schools, and the only al fresco waterfront mall in Cebu, Il Corso, in several stops within the development,” Filinvest Alabang Inc. vice president for townships Don Ubaldo said in a statement.

“From here, City di Mare connects to existing five routes that cover as far south as Talisay City and up north to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport,” Ubaldo added.

There are now 4 bus stops within City di Mare: at the City di Mare Visitor Center, Sanremo Oasis, Amalfi, and Il Corso Filinvest Lifemalls. The trips start at 6:30 a.m. with the next one at 7:30 a.m. and then every 2 hours thereafter. The buses connect City di Mare to stops in SM Seaside City, Robinsons Galleria, SM City Cebu, Parkmall, Compañia Maritima, Talisay City, and the airport.

City di Mare is an integrated lifestyle destination built on a vision to “redefine the live-work-play formula,” the company said in a statement.

Dolly Macam, senior project development manager of Filinvest City and City di Mare, and Kat Mercado, FLI marketing manager, gave the group an overview of the City di Mare development and the future timeline of the project. City di Mare will soon have high-rise buildings that will host condo units, offices, and retail spaces.

Mercado pointed out that Sanremo and Amalfi both have underground passages for cars so that the spaces above are vehicle-free, making it perfect for pedestrian, runners, and bikers.

George Calles, deputy mall manager and marketing manager for Il Corso, gave an overview of the waterfront mall that is set to open within the year. The mall with the iconic lighthouse and panoramic view of the sea will offer a different retail experience to Cebuanos, he said.

Known for its top-class business reputation, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu showed its fun side in a summertime party aptly named Drink, Dance, & Dip at the hotel’s El Viento Restaurant and Pool Bar.

Guests were treated to free-flowing summer cocktails, dancing music, and smoky barbecue dishes.

The fun event was set up by the side of the pool with its inviting crystal blue water that was just too difficult to resist. Many gave in to the temptation of a refreshing dip.

Highlight fun side

Lara Scarrow, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu Director of Sales and Marketing, said the event served to highlight the El Viento Restaurant and Pool Bar that often gets overlooked because of their reputation as a business hotel.

She added that they want to show guests this part of the hotel where they can relax, dine, drink, and even take a swim. The Cafe Marco buffet already includes free use of the pool so families and friends can have fun after dining at the restaurant.

Drink, Dance & Dip was a cluster pool party that happened simultaneously in all Marco Polo properties in the Philippines, including Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, and Marco Polo Davao.

Guests donned chic summer outfits over their swimwear in happy compliance with the invitation to drink, dance, and dip.

DJ Jen Weigel Sarmiento and DJ Kirby Yu provided dance music while guests enjoyed the food and bar.

The free-flowing summer drinks included frozen mojitos, blue daiquiris, and pina coladas. There was also a Belvedere and Moet Chandon Bar, while Pocari Sweat provided maximum hydration.

Drinks were paired with savory bar bites such as chicken fajitas, fish cakes, spicy skewers, and assorted kebabs.

Just as the sun was about to set, the music transitioned to sexy Latino beats as the Phoenix Band set the tone for some dancing and lots of laidback fun.

Havaianas inflatable flip floats provided some added color and lounging opportunities.

Party prizes

Earlier, hosts Paulo Varela and Maria Gigante mentioned that some prizes were hidden in the pool and indeed before the night ended, all prizes were found and claimed. They included two-night stays at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila and Marco Polo Davao. Thrown in for good measure were gift certificates for El Viento Restaurant and Pool Bar.

Flow Arts Cebu provided entertainment in the form of amazing fire dances. One such performance was held at the bar’s roof to the delight of party guests.

Towards the end of the evening, awards were given out for Best Half-Dressed lady and gentleman. The winners were Patty Taboada with her sexy cut-out one piece from Cesa and Neil San Pedro with his laid back and chill get-up. Both won an overnight stay at Marco Polo Plaza and a flip float from Havaianas.

Indeed, it was a summer party like no other with about 200 guests enjoying Drink, Dance & Dip.
