Luxury hotel chain Sheraton brings to Cebu its first branded residential development in Southeast Asia called The Residences in partnership with the Cebuano company AppleOne Mactan, Inc.

The two companies launched The Residences, a 22-storey tower that will rise within the site of the Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort by 2020, last Friday, October 7, 2016.

Alexandra Yao, Starwood Hotels and Resorts head for branded residential development in Asia Pacific, said The Residences will have 190 residential units, 154 of which will be one- to three- bedroom apartments while 36 will be courtyard pool residences.

She added that The Residences is scheduled for completion and turnover to unit owners by 2020 or around a year after the Sheraton Cebu resort is set to be finished.

Sheraton, Starwood’s biggest brand, has 13 branded residences, seven of which are in Asia Pacific. The Residences in Punta Engaño in Lapu-Lapu City in the island of Mactan will be the first in Southeast Asia, according to Yao.

Ray Go Manigsaca, AppleOne Properties, Inc. president, said in a statement that there is no better time for this project than now, with people looking for homes that offer a luxurious resort lifestyle where they can enjoy “staycations” all year round.

Yao said The Residences residents will have access to a host of exclusive hotel facilities and enjoy such basic services as security, concierge, doorman but can also pick from a host of paid services, including valet, housekeeping, and laundry.

At the same time, they will also be able to take advantage of Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort facilities, including spa, gym, swimming pool, dining establishments, and lobby lounge.

A short briefer on the project stated that the 22-storey main tower of The Residences will feature a spacious, open-air lobby and only have a maximum of six units per wing. All units will either have unobstructed vistas of the ocean or the courtyard lagoon pools through large panoramic windows. Courtyard residences will come with a private swimming pool.

The differentiating factor for The Residences units will be the show kitchen, said Cyndy Tan Jarabata, president of Tajara Leisure and Hospitality Group – AppleOne Mactan’s exclusive marketing partner, during a tour of some model units.

She said residential condo units are furnished and come with a sleek and modern kitchen with paneled refrigerator and freezer, range and oven, and other basic appliances.

She showed a sample of the walk-in closet in the one-bedroom apartment and frosted glass bathroom in the master’s bedroom of the two-bedroom unit.

The one bedroom unit, which measures 68 square meters, costs around P10-12 million while the two-bedroom, with floor areas starting from 148 square meters, is priced upward of P20 million.
