The killing spree continues in Cebu with as much as 12 people killed in the anti-drug operations all over the province. The three papers have three different counts–12 in 24 hours for the Freeman, 8 in one day for Cebu Daily News and 9 in 12 hours for Sun.Star Cebu–proof that even the media can’t keep up with the deadly tally. Among those killed was a former policeman in Naga, whose wife is also a cop assigned in the Naga City Police Office.
They’re supposed to conduct a buy-bust operation, the normal buy-bust operation that we are conducting but accordingly, it resulted into a shootout with a group. Provincial Police Director Jose Macanas on the death of four pushers in Toledo City.

Two ex-generals in Cebu linked to drug lord.
Retired police generals Marcelino Garbo and Vicente Loot, now the Daanbantayan mayor, were linked in an intelligence report to Kerwin Espinosa, the son of Albuerta, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. The May 31 intelligence report tagged Loot as the handler of Kerwin, the no. 1 drug lord in Eastern Visayas who has reportedly left the country last June. The ex-general denied the report.

Ironman boosts Lapu-Lapu City tourism.
Close to 5,000 rooms in 79 hotels in Lapu-Lapu City are booked for the Cobra Ironman 70.3 2016 Asia-Pacific Championships, which starts Sunday at the Shangrila Mactan Resort and Spa. Tourism Officer Hembler Mendoza says hotels in Mandaue City and Cebu City will also have visitors for the Ironman, which will also pass by Mandaue, Cebu and Talisay City.
These hotels will earn in three nights what they usually earn in 15 days. Hembler Mendoza.
