Paying tribute to its roots, this year’s Make Your Own Havaianas (MYOH) in Cebu goes on longer and takes on a Hawaiian feel.
The MYOH 2015 in Cebu started May 7 and will go on up to the 17th of the month to give customers more time to pick their favorite combination of Havaianas pair or pairs, said A.L. Amizade, Inc. marketing director Leanne Florendo.
“The Portuguese who came up with Havaianas were inspired by the Hawaiian lifestyle, which is about being laid back and enjoying life,” she said.
Havaianas is Portuguese for Hawaiians, according to Florendo, citing that the MYOH theme for its 10th year is Hawaii-inspired in homage of the brand’s heritage.
MYOH Cebu 2015
Still being held at the Northing Atrium of SM City Cebu, the MYOH Cebu 2015 is set up like a typical day at the beach, with the cabana, surfboard, bike, and lounger decorations.
Unlike in past events, where customers rushed through creating their favorite flipflop pairs because of the huge turnout and limited days, the Make Your Own Havaianas 2015 in Cebu allows them to take their time with their choices as they have 10 days to do so.
“Those who came to our past events hardly enjoyed creating their Havaianas pairs as they found themselves lining up the whole time. They walked away with a Havaianas product but didn’t really have a Havaianas experience,” Florendo pointed out.
A.L. Amizade, which is the exclusive distributor of Havaianas in central and western Visayas, wants Cebuanos to have the Havaianas experience in MYOH Cebu 2015.
Hawaiian sole
Since Havaianas establishments were given a lot of leeway with their MYOH arrangements this year, the event now differs from city to city.
In Cebu, A.L. Amizade is offering only the limited edition Hawaiian sole of blue skies, palm trees, and hibiscus flowers, which is designed by Havaianas artists.
“The beauty of this is the strap changes the personality of the sole. Our choice of strap allows us to communicate our personality even with this one sole design,” said Florendo.
The simultaneous holding of MYOH 2015 events across major cities in the Philippines is also another thing that’s different this year.
